$30 million film about prophet Muhammad is being shot in Iran

Iranian director Majid Majidi has started working on production of a film about phophet Muhammad, according to the Iranian Fars News agency.

ADDITIONAL INFO: Muhammad (sometimes called Muhammad ibn Abdullah), was the founder of the religion of Islam, and is considered by Muslims to be a messenger and prophet of God, the last law-bearer in a series of Islamic prophets, and, by most Muslims, the last prophet of God as taught by the Quran.

Muslims thus consider him the restorer of an uncorrupted original monotheistic faith (islam) of Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and other prophets.

He was also active as a social reformer, diplomat, merchant, philosopher, orator, legislator, military leader, humanitarian and philanthropist.

Reportedly, the shooting is taking place in South of Iran, in the Asaluyeh city. Pre-production and first shootings started back in October, and its planned to wrap up the picture by the end of December.

According to some sources, this will be the most expensive film shot in Iran for the past couple of years. The budget for the film is around $30 million. The film will consist of 3 parts, where viewers will see prophet’s childhood and the period before he started his prophetic mission.

Personal thoughts: I think this would be some sort of a tv-series, since there will be 3 parts of the film, or if not, it would have been better to have it as a 3 series part film.

If you’re curious, there were other movies about propet Muhammad, most of which were shot in the U.S. For more information, check this Wikipage:
