“Baku, I love you” – a project of 10 films…

Russian director Egor Konchalovsky has decided to prepare a 10-film project, titled “Baku, I love you”.

Last week Konchalovsky visited Baku (capital of Azerbaijan) to discuss the project.

Egor Konchalovsky is known in Russia for “Anti-Killer” and “Anti-Killer 2” films.

His father is Andrey Konchalovsky is also a film director (he worked with S. Stallone and Kurt Russell on “Tango & Cash”), and his uncle is well-known Russian actor and director Nikita Mikhalkov.

10 directors from Azerbaijan, Russia, France, UK, Italy  and other countries will work on the project, local Azeri news source Gun.az reported. Supposedly, each director will be shooting his own piece, which would last for 9-10 minutes each.

The film reportedly will consist of short novellas about Azerbaijan (or Baku). The shooting will begin in March.

The whole project is being supported by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and Leyla Aliyeva (Foundation’s president) will act as project’s executive producer.

“Baku, I love you” is expected to be completed in early 2013. Three directors from Azerbaijan – Ilgar Safat, Samir Karimoglu and Yaver Rzayev are to be involved in the project.
