Oleg Taktarov is well respected in the martial arts community. He’s the only Russian who was able to win a UFC title (UFC 6, 1995).
Taktarov, a 4-times European jiu-jitsu champion, also won a 1994 martial arts tournament in Riga. That same year, Taktarov moved to the U.S., to pursue a career in movies.
Today, he’s known for his parts in films with such Hollywood stars as Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones 4), Robert De Niro (15 minutes), Adrian Brody (Predators), Al Pacino (Righteous Kill).
Recently, Taktarov gave an interview to Russian “Soviet Sports Weekly”, where he was asked who of those Hollywood stars wouldn’t run if a fight starts.
According to Taktarov, De Niro, Pacino, Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks wouldn’t run from a fight.
“I don’t know about Steven Seagal though,” Taktarov said. “I do know that 67-year old Gene LeBell choked him out, but LeBell has a 10th degree black belt in judo.”
When asked why he couldn’t fight Fedor Emelianenko, Taktarov noted that the fight was never set up.
“We had a big difference. I stopped competing in 1998, that was the time when Fedor was only starting up.”
