Man of Tai Chi: Keanu Reeves plans a modern kung-fu movie

Keanu Reeves is of course not the type of person I would normally write about, since he’s an “A-list” Hollywood celebrity, but in this case, i’ll make an exception.

Quite an exception it is – Keanu reportedly wants to shoot a martial arts movie titled “Man of Tai Chi”. Cool! I love the name already!

According to the FilmoFilia, “Village Roadshow”, “China Film” and “Wanda Group” are indeed teaming to finance this $25 million film project of Keanu Reeves.

From what is know about “Man of Tai Chi”, is that the story will take place in modern day, and will also pay homage to old kung-fu films.

“We want to do it in Chinese and English, do it as kind of a co-production with CFG perhaps, which is a Chinese film group, kind of a studio. It’s tricky. There’s 18 fights. We’ve timed it out. It’s about 40 minutes of fighting,” Reeves said himself.

40 minutes of fighting sounds really good! No more details are so far available, but its known, that the project will start production next year. Oh, yes, Reeves also said he will play a villain in this!

I believe, Reeves will get into some serious traning for this film, which is great (the matrix fights, anyone?), since if he’s ready to fight on-screen, this is going to be a fun watch indeed.

Maybe, Keanu should also find and contact Bolo Yeung, who is an expert in Tai Chi, and who knows, he might have been a great addition to this project.
