Paramount gives green light for “Ghost” TV adaptation

ghost-1990-filmParamount has decided that Oscar-scooping 1990 supernatural romantic drama “Ghost” with Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg is to be turned into TV series, the Wrap reported.

Akiva Goldsman (the writer of A Beautiful Mind who has just turned his hand to directing with Winter’s Tale) and Jeff Pinkner (one of the show runners on Fringe, with which Goldsman was also involved) have been hired to start working on ideas for the show.

It’ll be based on the tale of Sam Wheat (Patrick Swayze in the original), who is murdered in what he believes is a botched robbery and then tries to reconnect with his grieving wife (Demi Moore).

There is no information on how close the Tv version will be to the original film.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Akiva and Jeff, two deeply creative and accomplished talents, on the television adaptation of this classic supernatural drama,” Paramount TV president Amy Powell said in a statement.
