day-of-the-dead-remakeVicarious Entertainment has teamed with Campbell Grobman Films to develop “Day of the Dead” – a remake of George A. Romero’s 1985 horror film, Deadline reported.

“Our goal is for Vicarious to be a premiere destination that excites creators from all over the world,” said Dougas.

“We are giving them creative freedom and allowing them to showcase their strong vision and voice. There are great filmmakers out there and appetite for the genre so it’s a great time for us to be launching.”

Vicarious Entertainment is a new genre label that is will develop, produce and finance four to six thriller and horror feature films.

In July 2013 it was reported that Millennium Films and Taurus Entertainment plan to remake “Day of the Dead” with Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman producing. Production was planned for later this year with a 2014 release being targeted.

“Day of the Dead” was previously remade in 2008 as a direct-to-home video effort.

The producers on the new film promised that it will attempt to honor Romero’s original and assure that the zombies will be of the slow-moving horde variety.
