Universal Pictures makes history, sets box office record

universal_logoThe 2012 is not yet over, and the Universal Pictures have made history already, setting a box office record.

The theatrical grosses for the films of Universal Pictures have surpassed the $2.927 billion mark already, it has been reported on Thursday.

This achievement marks the best best year at the global box office in Universal’s 100-year history.

According to HollyWood reporter, in September the studio’s North American box office through Monday passed $1.128 billion mark, besting the record set in 2008, when total tallies for the year hit $1.127 billion.

After releasing such films as “The man with the Iron Fists”, “Ted”, “The Lorax”, Universal still will open its big-screen adaptation of the hit stage musical Les Miserables on Christmas Day.
